(H024) Hermit Crab, Spiral -
Color Chart
I've been surprised by two remarks I've heard since I
began selling my "Guiltless Shells" in 2001.
The misconception that the seashell a hermit crab uses as
its home was abandoned by the snail that made it. The
assumption is made that the snail also outgrew its shell and
went looking for a larger one. The other natural
mistake is concluding that the crab made the shell. I
realize if I hadn't been exposed to marine ecology I might
have come to the same conclusions.
I've tried to keep my environmental concerns muted,
realizing that a whispered thought has more power than a
shout.
I love to make the elongated spiral shell combining the eyes
and claws of a hermit crab to create a whimsical yet wise
sculpture inviting you to think as you smile.

(H025) Horns, Antelope -
Color Chart
When I started to make my "Guiltless Shells"
two years ago, I had no idea the spiraled multicolored cones
would also be raw material allowing me to create other life
forms. Horns and antlers have always intrigued me, so
it's rewarding to be able to capture the essence of an
antelope with only its horns.
Different mounting options, such as shadowbox, loose in a
bowl of sand and rocks, cedar shavings, etc. are
available. Contact me to discuss preferences. |

(H026) Manta Ray -
Color Chart
When I was 16, I took my first flying lesson in a tiny,
two seat T-Craft. A few weeks later I soloed; finding
myself alone, dancing high above Holland in this red and
white canvas bird. To see the Manta Ray soar in the
sea with its wings of flesh captures the flier in me;
letting me vicariously fly too.
Taking the clay filled with flowing color allows me to dance
with the Manta Ray form, expressing my love of flight. |

People love to watch me hatch my clay eggs into lifeforms. My website
is also like a clay egg - one I'm hatching right now.
