In July of 2001 I was diagnosed with cancer; a common experience in
our society. At the Cleveland Clinic where I had my surgery I
received beautiful flowers and plants from my friends back home, for
which I was very grateful. But I was saddened that those
expressions of love weren't able to last; the flowers wilted, and
the plants died of thirst. I suspect I'm not alone; the ache
to have something tangible and permanent to come home with. So
creating these floral and plant accents has been rewarding for
me. I designed them to be removed and handled in the
hope that holding them would also lessen the physical and emotional
pain of hospitalization.

When its hot out, theres nothing as refreshing as an ice-cold
popsicle for the body. I have found my clay and the animal forms I
bring forth refreshing to my spirit like an ice cold popsicle.
It is my hope my art-sicles will refresh you as they have me.
